A West Bromwich Albion player has described the prospect of playing at Wembley in the play-off finals as “unbelievable”.
Currently fifth placed in the EFL Championship, the Baggies have put together a strong season which sees them with their play-off destiny in their hands with two games of the season left.
One player who has emerged as a key contributor for West Brom this campaign is winger Tom Fellows.
The Englishman admitted that the idea of playing at Wembley in a play-off final would be an electrifying prospect.
Fellows said: “Obviously we’ve got to get there first but, yeah it would be unbelievable.
“I think some people say they dream of playing at Wembley, but I never thought I would,
“I remember going with dad to watch the play-off final a couple years back and I was completely overawed, it didn’t pass through my head that one day I could be playing there.
“It would be unbelievable, and it definitely would be one of the proudest moments if we do manage to get there.”
The 20-year-old has had a breakthrough year with his playing time being steadily raised across the season.
Despite the increased role, and a recent under-20 England call-up, Fellows is committed to keep improving himself as a player.
He said: “It always seems difficult to look at long-term ambitions because when you start looking long-term, you forget about the short-term.
“The short-term things are going to get you to the long-term.
“I like to set a lot of short-term goals of different stuff to help little bits of your game you want to improve on, doing extra work for a little bit of growth.
“The short-term goal obviously would be to get to Wembley for this season, but I think the biggest thing is just to keep getting a bit better each year, just to keep improving.”
West Bromwich Albion are next in action tomorrow (Saturday 27th), when they’ll play Sheffield Wednesday away from home.
